Extended customer service for Leica Digilux 2 owners
Leica Camera AG is offering all owners of the LEICA DIGILUX 2 a customer service free of charge even beyond the stated warranty period. Specifically, this refers to exchanging the digital camera’s sensor in the case of a rarely occurring malfunction.
Leica Camera AG has opted for this extended warranty due to the fact that there have been a few reports of this malfunction caused by faulty manufacturing which also affects some other makes’ cameras.
Prolonged use of the camera in tropical climate conditions has occasionally led to effects such as black stripes in the image or even a totally black image. One of the surprises of the Photokina 2006 was Leica. And beside an interesting introduction of the compact camera series, and a digital SLR camera Leica unveiled their digital M camera; the Leica M8. The Leica M8 offers a resolution of 10.3 megapixels and incorporates a notably low-noise CCD image sensor has been rigorously optimized for the special features of the Leica M lens system.
Leica has announced the ultra-compact D-LUX 3.
The third new camera from Leica is the the DIGILUX 3 (essentially a Panasonic DMC-L1). The company’s first integrated digital SLR represents something of a departure as it uses the Four Thirds system rather than Leica’s own reflex lens mount.
The second new Leica digital camera is the V-LUX 1, clearly based on Panasonic’s DMC-FZ50 this camera has virtually identical specifications; a ten megapixel CCD, a 12x optically image stabilized lens (with mechanically linked zoom), a tilting 2.0″ LCD monitor, electronic viewfinder, flash hot-shoe and full manual controls.
Leica Camera AG, Solms is exhibiting the new LEICA M8 at photokina in Cologne. It is the first digital camera to use the Leica viewfinder system.
